How to clean and care for your jewelry
Gentle Cleaning Solutions: Opt for eco-friendly cleaning solutions such as a mixture of mild dish soap and warm water, let it soak for a few minutes and carefully brush with an old toothbrush. This gentle solution effectively removes dirt and grime without leaving harmful residues.
Avoid: Avoid wearing your jewelry in the shower, swimming or in contact with perfumes or lotions, as this can leave a residue which reacts to the metals, allowing for tarnishing.
Soft Brushes and Cloth: When cleaning your jewelry, choose soft brushes and lint-free cloths made from sustainable materials. These tools will help you gently scrub away debris and restore the natural shine of your pieces.
Baking Soda and Vinegar: For a natural and effective way to remove tarnish from your jewelry, consider using a mixture of baking soda and white vinegar. This eco-friendly solution will bring back the luster to your silver and metal pieces.
Biodegradable Ultrasonic Cleaners: If you're looking for a more advanced cleaning method, consider using a biodegradable ultrasonic cleaner. These devices use sound waves to remove dirt from your jewelry, and the cleaning solutions they employ are gentle on both your pieces and the Earth.
Proper Storage: Keep your jewelry away from direct sunlight and moisture to prevent tarnishing and damage. Store your pieces in the Nvll+Void eco-friendly jewelry boxes made from sustainable materials, or consider using reusable cloth pouches to protect your jewelry.
Regular Maintenance: By incorporating regular jewelry cleaning into your routine, you can prevent the need for deep cleaning sessions that may require more resources. A simple wipe-down and polish every so often will help keep your jewelry sparkling.
Choose Quality Over Quantity: Investing in high-quality, durable jewelry made from recycled metals ensures that your pieces will last longer, reducing the need for constant cleaning and replacements.
If you would like your Nvll+Void jewelry repolished and brought back to it’s original lustre, feel free to drop me a line and I will be happy to do this for you, for a small fee.
A note on gold-plated and oxidised pieces: All jewelry that has a surface treatment such as gold-plating or oxidisation will wear down after time, as it is only surface deep. All Nvll+Void pieces that have been oxidised, I will happily redo for free. For gold-plating pieces it can be redone for a small fee.
