Clean Classic Signet

€180.00

Handmade in .925 solid silver.

Clean edged, high polished classic signet ring.

Precious metals get their name because of their rarity. Base metals, like copper, lead and iron are vastly more common than precious metals like gold and silver. This is exactly why when I created the Clean Classic Signet I wanted to keep it absolutely simple and minimal with its design. I wanted to let to beauty of the polished silver be the main event.

Silver seems to be everywhere you look on the internet, on my feed anyway! But it’s an incredible material. Base metals that contain iron eventually rust, something I think can be absolutely gorgeous in its own right and is a constant source of inspiration for my designs. But silver contains no iron, so it will not rust. It can tarnish over time. Sterling silver is composed of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, usually copper. They mix with oxygen in the air and begin to turn greyish/black. But it’s only surface deep so a little polish and you will be able to get that silver gleaming again. It’s similar to how oxidised silver gets its black colour, but that’s a conversation for another day.

The Clean Classic Signet is timeless form, just like the material it’s composed of. When I’m making these and get to the final stage of polishing I try to remind myself of how incredible it is that this has come from the beneath the roads and tree roots, mixed in with earth and years upon years of strata. It’s lived some other life and was refined again, maybe even an infinite amount of times (which would be great!) and finally came to me as recycled silver.

The front of the ring has a perfect smooth surface for engraving, please email me for enquiries.
